Maria Beatty é uma cineasta venezuelana que dirige, atua e produz. Seus filmes costumam ser feitos em preto e branco e cobrem vários aspectos da sexualidade feminina, incluindo BDSM e fetichismo. Ela foi inspirada pelo cinema expressionista alemão, surrealismo francês e “Film noir” americano.

Ela às vezes estrelas em seus próprios filmes, como The Elegant Spanking (1995) e The Black Glove (1997). Em 2007, ela ganhou o Prêmio FICEB Tacón De Aguja Melhor Diretor para Silken Sleeves.
